PWP About Us Today
STRUCTURE
There are various branches throughout South East Queensland. Each is run by a committee elected by its members. Members that are more remote become part of Regional Branch which has groups located in various centres throughout Queensland. Membership is also extended to residents of northern NSW who do not have access to a local PWP branch. |
WELFARE AND SUPPORT
Whilst we encourage friendship, and are always happy to provide a shoulder to lean on, we do not offer formal counselling or legal advice. However, many of our members have been in similar situations and have a real understanding of the difficulties. We are often able to assist and if we do not have the resources, we do have the knowledge to refer enquiries to agencies who are best equipped to help. enquiries@pwpqld.org.au |
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Branches organise various social activities for their members. These prominently feature Coffee & Chat evenings, picnics, family barbeques, day trips and some guest speakers. These activities are open to all members and yellow visitor card holders. New Member functions are a great way of meeting others, asking questions and finding out more about PWP. These functions and broader events are organised by the State Office. |
PWP recognise that single parent families have two basic social needs. With this in mind activities are put together to either allow interaction with other children and families, or to allow parents much needed adult conversation and the ability to meet and socialise independently.
Costs are a real consideration, and there are always activities that are affordable for those on a limited budget. There is also a special effort to keep our camps affordable for families. |
Social Dances
In years gone by Social Dances made up a huge part of our social calendar. Today our team is focused on reintroducing our Social Dances and other adult activities. If you would like to be involved with our dance committee, or have an interest in attending, please contact office@pwpqld.org.au
